I bought these sheets when my cheap quality, overpriced ripoff PARACHUTE fitted linen sheet degraded after only one year. Large tears developed and the elastic band lost all stretch, resulting in a sloppy fit. I had only washed it according to the instructions, every two weeks. It had a loose fit to begin with on my standard foam mattress. So this review is in comparison to the PARACHUTE.
The difference in quality is stark. The fit is perfect. The elastic band is thicker and tighter than the narrow stretchy PARACHUTE band. The sheet is thicker, more substantial, a tighter weave and overall higher quality. The PARACHUTE was monochrome. This CULTIVER has thin stripes that add color and a striking design element. Plus the woven stripes add strength and structure to the sheet so that may add to durability.
Both sheets are soft with a wonderful feel.
I bought both sheets based on the NYT Wirecutter review, which illustrates how uneven their reviews can be. I paid about the same for both sheets. I've got my fingers crossed my initial impression means these will last at least for several years.
